Fresh from recording another series of the hugely popular Filipino TV show ‘The Voice Kids’, rock icon Bamboo will take to the road for a series of live shows at several of the most iconic concert venues in the UK and Ireland – including his first ever live concert in Scotland.
A music icon in his homeland for more than 20 years, the 38 year-old will open his tour with a live show at the Usher Hall in Edinburgh on October 16.
“I can’t wait to play for my fans in Scotland,” said the singer who first found fame in the mid-1990s as lead singer of ‘Rivermaya’ before going on to front his own eponymous band ‘Bamboo’.
“It’s a country I’ve never visited before but I know a lot about the great musicians who have come from Scotland and have heard great things about the energy of the audiences. It’s going to be a honour for me to play on a stage that has hosted some of the biggest bands in the world and I can’t wait to be there.”
For the thousands of Filipinos who now live and work in Scotland and the rest of the UK, Bamboo’s autumn tour will also provide an authentic link to their homeland in the Philippines.
It’s a fact not lost on a singer who has reached a new global TV audience thanks to his role as coach and mentor on both ‘The Voice of the Philippines’ and ‘The Voice Kids’.
“The support I get when I play abroad is something else so for one night, I’m going to bring those guys back home – that’s a promise,” he added. “It’s going to be fun and it’s going to be loud. I’m expecting a lot of energy from the crowd, as well as myself and the band.
“I also want all of fans to be able to relate to it as my audience covers everyone from the older generation to the young kids who come up and ask for photos or talk to me because of “The Voice Kids”. I want it to be a family affair and would love to see the audience come to the shows with their kids.
“We’ll feature a lot of my new solo songs as well as many of the classics that prove popular every time we go on an international tour.”
Other dates on Bamboo’s UK tour include Manchester (October 18), London (October 19) and Dublin (October 24) as the biggest rock star in the Philippines continues the promotion of his second solo album ‘Bless This Mess’.
