Fresh from recording another series of the hugely popular Filipino TV show ‘The Voice Kids’, rock icon Bamboo will take to the road for a series of live shows at several of the most iconic concert venues in the UK and Ireland – including his first ever live concert at Hammersmith’s Eventim Apollo in London
Scheduled for the iconic venue on October 19, Bamboo’s show will be welcomed by the thousands of Filipinos who have grown up with the man and his music and who now live and work in and around the capital.
“The Hammersmith Eventim Apollo is one of the most iconic venues in the world and it’s an honour to be able to perform on a stage that has welcomed many of my favourite artists such as the Beatles, Radiohead and U2,” said the 38 year-old.
Having the opportunity to provide an authentic link to their homeland in the Philippines is a fact not lost on a singer who has reached a massive global TV audience thanks to his role as coach and mentor on both ‘The Voice of the Philippines’ and ‘The Voice Kids’.
“The support I get when I play abroad is something else so for one night, I’m going to bring those guys back home – that’s a promise,” said the biggest rock star in the Philippines as he continues the promotion of his second solo album ‘Bless This Mess’.
“It’s going to be fun and it’s going to be loud. I’m expecting a lot of energy from the crowd, as well as myself and the band.
“I also want all of fans to be able to relate to it as my audience covers everyone from the older generation to the young kids who come up and ask for photos or talk to me because of “The Voice Kids”. I want it to be a family affair and would love to see the audience come to the shows with their kids.
“We’ll feature a lot of my new solo songs as well as many of the classics that prove popular every time we go on an international tour.”
A music icon in his homeland for more than 20 years, the singer – who first found fame in the mid-1990s as lead singer of ‘Rivermaya’ before going on to front his own eponymous band ‘Bamboo’ – will also play Edinburgh, Manchester and Dublin.
