Fab Four Set For Dubai Music Double
Four of the biggest acts in Filipino music history will come together for two all-star concerts in Dubai – with Voice of the Philippines coach and star Bamboo leading the way on October 31.
Bamboo rocked 10,000 fans in Dubai 12 months ago and the Filipino king of rock will do it all again when he brings his 2014 World Tour to a spectacular finale at the Dubai World Trade Centre.
One week later, the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Stadium will be the venue for a star-studded show featuring hugely-popular Filipino rock/punk band Kamikazee alongside the legendary Rivermaya and award-winning hip-hop rapper Gloc-9 – who is expected to jam with both bands as well as perform his own set – on Friday, November 7.
Tickets for both shows, promoted and produced by Spicy Lemon in Dubai, are on sale now from all branches of Virgin in the UAE as well as online from www.virginmegastore.me.
Tickets for the Bamboo show are priced AED95 for standing and AED145 for grandstand seating, while tickets to see Kamikazee, Gloc-9 and Rivermaya cost AED95 (standing) and AED125 (grandstand seating).
Arguably the hottest Filipino male vocalist on the scene, Bamboo will return to Dubai buoyed by yet another successful year that saw him star as a judge/coach/mentor on The Voice Kids, complete a successful world tour and prepare to hit the studios to record a new album.
“Last year’s Dubai show was an unbelievable success and without doubt one of the best productions I have ever been involved with anywhere in the world,” said Bamboo, who will be making his sixth live appearance in Dubai.
“The sound and lighting was second to none and I’m looking forward to returning to the UAE to celebrate 20 years in the music industry and finish the World Tour in front of my Dubai fans after visiting Qatar, Ireland, Italy, the US and Canada.”
While Kamikazee and Gloc-9 – fresh from winning three awards at the 6th PMPC Star Awards for Music – will be making their first appearance in a Spicy Lemon-promoted show, for Rivermaya it’s a welcome return to the UAE after making their first ever appearance in the country twelve months earlier.
“We first played Dubai last year, which is incredible considering we’ve been playing for some 20 years,” said original band member Mark Escueta. “We’ve gone through a number of personnel changes over the years but the heart of Rivermaya remains the same and we look forward to playing our new music as well as some recognised standards when we hit Dubai in November”.
Featuring Escueta and band-mates Norby David, Mike Elgar and Ryan Peralta, Rivermaya produced a storming UAE debut at the Dubai World Trade Centre last year and have been working hard in rehearsals to surpass that performance in 2014. “We want to mix things up a bit for the fans,” said David. “Of course, no Rivermaya show would be complete without classics such as ‘214’ but we aim to spring a few surprises with our material.”
